MarineBoost - High Concentration Saltwater Copepods and Phytoplankton

At PepperforPets, we are now launching our new 'MarineBoost' value pack (high concentration copepods and phytoplankton) for your reef aquarium.

We recommend the following option, depending on your tank system size (please use the total water volume, including those in HOB, sump etc):

• For system volume <70L, choose 250ml copepods + 250ml Phytoplankton as a starter pack, then replenish copepods every 4-6 weeks (can be purchased separately from our shop)
• For system volume between 70~150L, choose 500ml copepods + 250ml Phytoplankton as a starter pack, then replenish copepods every 4-6 weeks (can be purchased separately from our shop) and phytoplankton when needed.
• For system volume >150L, choose 1L copepods (better to start with more, if tank is larger than 300L) + 500ml or 1L Phytoplankton as a starter pack, then replenish copepods every 4-6 weeks (can be purchased separately from our shop) and phytoplankton when needed.

Don't underestimate how useful the combo of these two can be - they will support your tank with a more diverse ecosystem and help battle against ugly algae and keep your tank in check with a more balanced nutrition!

Copepods are small crustaceans which are excellent food for saltwater aquarium fish, corals and other invertebrates. Most marine tanks including corals will hugely benefit from these little crustaceans whilst seahorses, mandarin fish and anthias may require the addition of regular copepods for their health. They are cultured with sterilised saltwater with salinity of 1.025-1.026. It is recommended that you either use this to seed your tank (plus regular dose of phytoplankton) or as regular food source for your fish and corals. High density, sold in bottles or pouches - we recommend you to dose the copepods in your tank as soon as you received them! A small amount of phytoplankton is added with the copepods to keep them happy on the way to you.

With the phytoplankton included in the pack, you can then give your reef system regular dosing of beneficial phytoplankton, which will feed the copepods and help maintain their healthy population. Our phytoplankton is cultured with sterilised saltwater (salinity of 1.025), freshly harvested on the same day when your order is posted. It is excellent for your reef tank feeding your corals, pods, rotifers, brine shrimps etc, creating a diverse ecosystem in your tank. The phytoplankton you will receive is our 'reef juice' product, a mix of three main phytoplankton species with complementary nutritional value, including Nannochloropsis Oculata, Nannochloris and Tetraselmis, offering a fine balance between contents such as protein, lipid (Omega 3 and 6), chlorophylls and carotenoids. Your corals, copepods and feather dusters will love this! Our phytoplankton can be kept in fridge (3-5 degree Celsius) for 4-8 weeks or longer (thorough shaking required every 2-3 days and avoid contamination, e.g. with tank water, to maximise its 'shelf life'). Sold either in bottle or pouch with a screw cap, so it can be safely stored in fridge after each use. Dosage depends on your tank size and coral stock - typically around 5ml per 100L, 3-4 times a week, for a fully stocked reef tank. Reduce dosage if you have fewer coral in tank. Keep your protein skimmer off for 1 hour after dosage to maximise effectiveness. 

* Please kindly note that, during packaging process, we will refill our copepod pack with oxygen, therefore the total water volume in the pack may be slightly inconsistent. However, we always make sure the copepod populations between bags of same volume are consistent.
